I qualified as a solicitor in 1989 and have been practising as a divorce and family lawyer ever since. I have been a partner of the firm since 1994 and I am currently the Chairman of Birkett Long
I am recognised as a leading divorce lawyer by the influential Legal 500 publication.
I enjoy working with people and helping them to solve complicated personal and financial problems. I advise both married and unmarried clients, both in this country and where cases involve international legal issues.
I am a member of Resolution, an organisation of family lawyers committed to the settlement of disputes in a constructive, fair and cost effective way. I trained as a collaborative lawyer in 2005.
The collaborative law process can help couples who want to find solutions outside of a formal court based procedure. Collaborative meetings can embrace ways forward which are specifically and individually tailored to the needs of a particular family.
Clients can deal with things quickly or more slowly, whichever suits them best. There is particular value where there are children involved and parents want to be able to continue to co-parent their children in an effective and child centred way.
I offer all potential clients a free 15 minute chat over the phone to discuss how we can best help and that can include a discussion about the benefits and suitability of collaborative law.
